Thoughts & Experience of SUCCESS in life.

A desire is most of the time sparked by a thought then followed by an emotion. Both fate and GOD work in mysterious ways, that we should never try to comprehend them but observe & ask for his blessings before undertaking your path. Thats how i have experience it in my life, my accounts may defer from others but thats a good thing because "I WRITE MY OWN LIFE JOURNEY".

I was a playful kid back when i was in primary school. I would always just pass my exams and gave teachers trouble which would lead to my parents coming down to have tea sessions with my teachers, till a point where near all hope was lost. HAHAHA.... However, all of these changed. When i was 12 years old i remembered as clear as yesterday i was rushing from farrer court where i spent my vacation days at my aunts place having fun with my cousin. We were all very anxious for my results. I reached school quite late compared to rest of my friends.

I saw faces of all kind be it joy, contentment and also disappointment. I was really anxious when i approached my teacher and asked him for my result. His first impression when he saw me was disappointment. He told me that he had a feeling that i didnt really do well for my exam and that i was heading for the normal technical stream. I did my best not to believe him till reality bite me. I was dumb folded after receiving the results as i saw & felt the entire world came crashing down on me that day. Family and friends around me also fell in their spirits when they heard of the bad news. I felt lost and worse part of all out of place.

Fortunately, i manage to bounce back in spirits after a few weeks and accepted the reality of things and i sorted to change things as it was a NEW BEGINNING. The desire in the beginning was not so strong yet. I met some good friends here and there from my new school and socialized with others not from my stream. The funny thing about how i made my first break-thru was from my first mid year exam results, after i finish my mid year exams i felt not only relieved but a sense of confidence that i had not felt for a long time and something in my gut told me that it was good. Which was true when i was acknowledge by my teacher to be 2nd in class and subsequently in the finals i obtained 1st overall standard best in secondary one.

I felt one thing about climbing the route to success is to small chunk it and take it one step at a time. Then double the results. Which at the same time was a secret formula of how the rich got richer. An example of that would be how they would accumulate $1000 then once they found that out they would find a way to shorten the time and double the amount they made. However, due to my success, i made some enemies along the way. I believe it was due to jealousy and maybe my lack of social skills at that point in time. I remembered that when i was the best and i was even challenged by someone that they would take my position next year. I did not have many close friends and most of my close friends were from other streams or schools.

The next year, i was proud and took things alittle easier. The first half of the year showed my decline in results but i still manage to maintain top 3 position. And after my final year exams as the results are out but not yet tabulated. We more or less knew where we stood and the person who warned me last year taunted me this time with this phrase " Hey man, how come last time you were so capable. But now you are like shit." I didn't feel much at 1st but only embarrassment and insulted. However, due to that it ignited a fire so great in me that it fueled me for much more better conquest in future. I also learned something from the world's top table tennis person who once quoted "It easy to get to the top but the hard part is maintaining championship as you will always be facing more champions." The subsequent year i didn't do that well either but manage to maintain myself at top 4. The last year in secondary school was the most interesting one i had. It was a fight to the finish. The best part about this was there will not be interference on results from many test and exams but only one major exam which was the N levels.

It was a fierce battle between the top. Back and forth our small test and mid year and exam were moving in ranks. Then it came to the prelims where i manage to clinch the top 3 again. To my surprise i had the last laugh of the day as i was THE TOP N LEVEL STUDENT in my school and i jumped for joy. I shared the joy and happiness with my love ones and the course which i wanted to pursue was in my hands. The only thing i could say based on this experience is the route to glory is has alot of ups and downs in it. Time will be your greatest enemy, followed by challenges. Once you overcome both of them you are on your way to GLORY. One of my secrets for going through these periods and also improving myself in gathering knowledge was FAITH!! I would pray to him before every exam and test i would take and visit mass and catholic class weekly. I always believed that GOD help those who help themselves and at times. I admit i didn't get what i want and may have even been angry him and asked him why did i not get it. There is a reason to it, however we should never understand the reason thru our human minds but let it be revealed over time because GOD does things in mysterious ways and no worldly knowledge we posses can ever comprehend. I will always remember this 70 year 8th dan Karate Master quoted " Always move forward both failures and success is part of the journey to mastery"!!

An example would be my poor results in my PSLE. I believed he knew that i was a slow learner and would take more time. As a result of that my confidence grew and ambition as well. The desire which was instilled in me was really so over whelming that i made ITE Hall of Fame. But i will leave that to another story.........

Richard Farewell Party

Richard, when will you be back man? OMG, although you may have left us for now and head back to australia. The memories we had back at zouk was unforgettable. Remember, Katie, the one who was talking to us the whole nite about her thailand heritage and afew other foreign exchange students. I like your idea of the bachelor's nite man. haha... The friends that we brought and also met there thru networking was awesome. The best part was there was some NUS bash and we were there at the right place & time. Hongchang was fortunately there to help capture our moments as he was the photographer for NUS that night.

Man i will never forget Jane from the states man. SHE was wheeeeew!! way over the roof. Perry was also having a fun time with his chick from NUS. I like the salsa thing he did with her. They were really having it ON that night man. I was really glad to have witness all of us having a time of our lives. The photos themselves speak a 1000 words ya.

Not to forget Jeannie and Sharon the 2 lovely monkeys

THATS WHY I'm BORN IN DECEMBER

HERE's The Season to have parties LALALALA... I love Decembers because its filled with FUN!!!. Haha.. Kudos to you Jinx. For bringing your teacher friend's to my pre-celebration party and not to mention listening to their 2 different version of birthday songs.;)

What a suprise!! Seeing my fashion class beau~ here as well after such a long time. Still as beautiful and sassy as ever. It was good catching up with you. One day we should go out for tea to catch up about your studies and live in perth ya. You seem to be having a time of your live in perth based on the photos you showed me. DAMN, i didnt know perth was such fun. I remembered when i was younger, i went to perth with my family for like a week or so. The only fun thing was the weather as it was cold and whenever i talk or breathe at night it gives me the feeling like i'm smoking. The wine refineries, shopping, FRENCH FRIES and Australian portion size meal were awesome and due to that i gained 2 KG after returning home. If i ever head down to perth for holis. I will give you a holla!!! ya..;) As you promise me that you are going to be my personal tour guide.

The billiard cum KTV session at ANGIE's was nice. Kudos's to Kelvin who brought his date along. Damn she is a good girl man, well mannered and all. But rest assured man, with your singing talent, i'm sure you will sweep her off with it. It was really romantic when both of you guys sang WU Ding by Jay zhou together. REALLY HOPE TO SEE YOU GUYS TOGETHER SOON!!!
And last but not list thank you Liling for your TONGUES OUT and treating me to some sweet delicacies on my birthday. Shan't share the sweet stuff you shared with me over here. Its a secret between both of us only ya..;)

RACE DAY!!!!!

After 3 months of preparations, running under the scorching heat of the sun's, grueling and punishing push-ups and circuit trainings. Race day was finally here. I was nervous in the beginning but fortunately i have a very strong and supportive team. We trust each other's strength alot and know what we are here for. We went thru hell together, if the other teams wanted to beat us to the trophies is if they bleed while trying. The race plan was discuss again and mental exercises were carried out to psyche ourselves up.

I told myself, i needed to focus for this race. The only 3 things that i will concentrate on is the paddle, boat and my stroke. Nothing else matters, I dun care if the boat at my side is stronger and bigger in size or if they are faster than us in the beginning. The words that rattle in mind was "Pain Is Temporary, GLORY IS FOREVER."

Mastery of stroke was the only thing that was in our minds since the beginning of the season and not to mention coordination and teamwork. As a team, we are able to go further and faster. The heats was the first few events that started. The heats will determine which team stays and which team leaves.
Setting off Anchors

It was a grueling all out fight with the polytechnics and clubs for the heats. We were confident in winning the heats and in fact we got 1st place for the heats. Before every event we needed to warm up which included a jog and some boxing exercises to warm our body up.
Preparations

it was game time for us.

We had a total of 3 events and each was 800m sprint for every event we participated. There was times during the race when i know that i had only paddled 300 to 400m and i could feel that my body was giving up on me as i was panting heavily. But when i look at my teammates, i told myself since everybody was giving it their all and also everybody was going thru hell as well. I told myself "If all of us went to hell lets face it together and emerge STRONGER." I pulled with all my might and strength and in fact increase speed especially when the drums beat grew faster and it was nearing the finishing point.

However when the final came and we were pitted against the best in the business. We didn't get the top 3 places for 20 man crew however as darren says its not the result but the process that makes us stronger. First was NUS followed by NJC and third NTU. However the 10 man team got bronze in their events. Ultimately, we didnt go back empty handed. As Adrian our team manager puts it:ONE STROKE, ONE BEAT, ONE HEART.;)

3rd place(10man crew)

As Adrian our team manager puts it:ONE STROKE, ONE BEAT, ONE HEART.;)

P.S Please notify NUS that you copied their SLOGAN ya. I hope you don't get caught with copyright LAWS. LOLX

Zouk Out!!

My virgin's entry to zouk out was 2 words to describe all fantastic and breathetaking. We had a hell of a time there. We were greeted with a huge crowd and interesting, harmonious and lively atmosphere. After walking pass the entrance we saw a huge balloon slide near the beach. There were not to mention lots of hot babes with sexy bikinis on them and not to mention eyes oogling all over. However, we realised we may had oogle here and there but there were both guys and gals oogling at our group as well!!!! Kudos to Jenniffer for taking notice as we were having so much fun.

The guys who oogled at us sad to say were GAYS!!! Nothing wrong with them its just that we have our orientation on differently. Thank God none of the guys approach us. Jennifer i really wonder is it your false imagination or are you always so attentive with such details ya. According to Jen again, there were gals oogling at us as well but we were busy with the exploration of the place and enjoying our own company that we didn't notice.

HC's contagious jokes, austin's smile and not to mention wonderful company. Jennifer was showing us her sexy dance moves while hc was charming michelle. I like jennifer's open-mindness and her willingness to share experience with me about what she did when she was young as she used to go around the kampong and jungle plucking durians since she was born in malaysia and also her party culture at work and with friends.

Austin & I was also exploring the different dance sites. We realised there were 3 dance types which they were playing mainly HOUSE, R&B, TECHNO. We were walking along some of the booths which sells beer and also some models promoting product and was stopped by this beautiful hot girl who gave us the zouk out brochure that stated "ITS OK TO SMILE AND SAY HI TO PEOPLE AROUND YOU." Thats what austin did and we made many new friends. Just with a simple smile and nod and it was in the monorail mind you all. Austin you never fail to amaze us with your lame jokes and unpredictability in situations. HAHAHAH!!!!

The gals whom we talked with in the monorail were shy in the beginning. The conversation sounded like we were interviewing them at 1st but later they it became more platonic as realized understand where we are coming from. During our explorations, we spotted alot of people were having private parties in the car park since they brought along their radio and loud amplifiers.

I met one of my Safsa teammate coincidentally there as well. Happy to see that he has gotten over our teammates demise..

Remembering Love and Lost Ones.

Most singaporean's could recall the tragedy that struck at the 4th quarter of 2007 where singapore dragonboat national team went to cambodia to represent singapore in the cambodia water festival. It was a low profile event till tragedy struck. The seas and current were rough most of them were suck down by the current.

Most manage to surface up but 5 of them were lost in that tragedy among the 5, 2 of them my teammates and we trained hard. Been thru tough times and good times but ulitmately, been the source of my inspiration when tough times came.

Reuben the gentle giant. Soft, pure and sometimes in your own world. Thought me of surpasing my limitations and also showing me that sports can sometimes give you a good reflection on life. Whenever we were pushing thru the tough times u reminded me not to concentrate of the pain but bear with it and move pass it. A phrase that i can think of when training with you would be "Endure & Be Happy About It"!!

Weizhen has always been a good motivator and you are the one who i really bonded me in the team and mainly, i think of you whenever i get bad hiccups with teammates and not to mention thoughts of leaving our team. You showed me that "one has to be weak in order to be strong." That in life or trainings, it will never be an easy route to be champions, because being champions means "DOING THINGS NO ONE WOULD WANT TO DO." that includes SACRIFICE AND PAYING THE PRICE of our weekends and burning our bodies. I will always remember that you told me that when you began in safsa you were much worse than me and always encouraging me telling me that my strokes improve, i ran faster and also you told me that i have alot of potential. I just needed to use it and maintain the best stroke as long as i'm paddling in the boat.

Guys all i can say is this:" IN my eternal life, i really do hope i can see you guys & be again friends and bros for LIFE." You guys will always be my inspiration.

P.S: I do hope that most of my friends who are reading this. Don't take your love ones for granted and say what you have to say and do what you have to do with your love ones becos no one knows when YOUR TIME IS UP!!! Live life with NO REGRETS!!
